Position Summary As a Caregiver (Direct Care Staff), you will play a vital role in creating a safe, consistent, and positive environment for the youth in our care. You will provide daily supervision, guidance, mentorship, and emotional support while helping children develop healthy routines and life skills. This position is ideal for individuals who are calm under pressure, patient, emotionally mature, and committed to serving children with dignity, compassion, and respect. Key Responsibilities Provide continuous supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of youth. Build trusting, supportive relationships with residents through positive role modeling. Assist with morning and evening routines, hygiene, meals, medication support (if certified), and daily living activities. Supervise homework, educational activities, recreation, and community outings. Teach and reinforce appropriate social skills, personal responsibility, and healthy decision-making. Maintain a structured environment by following established routines, rules, and behavior management plans. Monitor youth behavior and appropriately respond to crisis situations using approved intervention techniques. Transport youth to school, medical appointments, therapy sessions, and recreational activities as needed. Complete daily documentation, incident reports, medication logs, and shift notes using the organization's electronic documentation system. Communicate effectively with supervisors, therapists, case managers, nurses, educators, and other members of the treatment team. Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education. Maintain confidentiality and comply with all Texas Health and Human Services Child Care Regulation (CCR) requirements. Qualifications Required Must be at least 21 years of age High School Diploma or GED Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record Current automobile insurance Ability to pass: Criminal Background Check FBI Fingerprint Check Drug Screen TB Test Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed Basic computer skills and willingness to learn electronic documentation systems Preferred Experience working with children, adolescents, foster care, residential treatment, juvenile justice, behavioral health, education, or social services Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Education, Nursing, or a related field CPR/First Aid Certification CPI, SAMA, or other crisis intervention certification Medication Administration certification Experience with trauma-informed care or TBRI® (Trust-Based Relational Intervention) Training Provided Successful candidates will receive paid training in areas such as: Trauma-Informed Care Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®) Emergency Behavior Intervention Medication Administration (if applicable) CPR/First Aid Documentation and Reporting Child Abuse Prevention and Mandatory Reporting Residential Child Care Policies and Procedures Eligible employees may receive reimbursement for fingerprinting, TB testing, CPR certification, and approved training expenses following successful completion of the introductory employment period.
