Position Summary:
The Personal Attendant/Home Care Provider is responsible for providing compassionate, dependable, and non-skilled in-home assistance to eligible individuals who require support with activities of daily living and routine household tasks. The employee provides services in the client's home according to the authorized service plan, company policies, and applicable Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) requirements. The primary goal of this position is to help clients remain safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible in their homes and communities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The Personal Attendant may provide assistance with authorized services including, but not limited to: Assisting clients with bathing, showering, sponge bathing, and personal hygiene. Assisting with dressing and undressing and laying out appropriate clothing. Providing standby assistance and safety support during personal care activities. Assisting with grooming and routine personal care. Preparing, warming, serving, and assisting with meals as authorized. Assisting the client with eating or feeding when authorized. Performing light housekeeping related to the client's health, safety, and daily needs. Changing and maintaining the client's bed linens and keeping the client's living area clean and safe. Assisting with laundry and other routine household tasks related to the client's needs. Assisting with shopping for necessary household or personal items when authorized. Providing escort or accompaniment for authorized non-medical activities, when applicable to the client's program and service plan. Providing appropriate companionship and encouragement while maintaining professional boundaries. Observing and reporting significant changes in the client's condition, safety, behavior, or needs to the supervisor. Following the client's authorized service plan and completing required documentation accurately and timely. Protecting the client's privacy, dignity, rights, property, and confidentiality. Maintaining a safe environment and reporting hazards, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or other concerns according to company policy and applicable requirements. Performing other duties that are permitted under the client's authorized services and applicable program requirements. Treat every client with dignity, respect, patience, and compassion. Never discriminate against a client based on age, disability, race, national origin, religion, sex, or other protected status. Maintain confidentiality of all client and company information. Follow all Amable Home Care LLC policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
Must meet applicable age and employment requirements for the position. Must be physically and mentally capable of performing assigned duties safely. Must demonstrate dependability, professionalism, honesty, and compassion. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, families, supervisors, and other members of the care team. Previous caregiving, personal attendant, home care, or related experience is preferred but may not be required depending on the position and applicable program requirements.
Work Environment:
Services are primarily provided in the client's private residence and may involve working with elderly individuals, individuals with disabilities, or individuals with functional limitations. Employees may work independently in the client's home and must follow all safety, infection-control, confidentiality, and reporting requirements applicable to their position.
Physical Requirements:
The position may require the employee to: Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and sit for periods of time. Assist clients with routine personal care activities. Lift or carry light household or personal-care items. Maintain sufficient mobility and physical ability to perform assigned duties safely.
