Position Summary The Resident Aide is an integral role to the nursing team and has a significant impact on the overall delivery of care to facility customers. The Resident Aide is responsible for providing quality care to customers and supporting the goals for shift objectives to enhance team efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Job Type :
PRN-As needed (7:00am-3:00pm and 11:00pm-7:00am shifts) (Must have weekend availability)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Personal Care Assistance:
Help residents with daily activities such as dressing, grooming, bathing, and toileting. Assist with mobility, including transferring residents from bed to chair or helping them move around the facility. Provide assistance with feeding, including special diets if needed.
Health and Wellness Monitoring:
Observe and report any changes in residents' physical or mental health to supervisors or healthcare providers. Assist with medication reminders or administer medications as directed by medical staff (depending on the facility's policies). Help residents with specific health-related needs, such as monitoring blood pressure, glucose levels, or other conditions.
Safety and Environment Maintenance:
Ensure that the living environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained. Help with basic housekeeping tasks, including cleaning resident rooms, making beds, and laundering clothes. Observe residents for any signs of discomfort or distress and report concerns promptly.
Social and Emotional Support:
Engage with residents in activities that promote socialization, cognitive stimulation, and emotional well-being. Assist with recreational activities, crafts, and other programs designed to keep residents active. Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, offering a listening ear when needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of residents' care and daily activities. Report incidents, accidents, or any changes in the health or behavior of residents to the supervisor or healthcare team. Follow all health and safety protocols, including infection control practices.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with nurses, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to resident care. Participate in training and meetings to stay updated on best practices in elder care. Help ensure the facility runs smoothly by following protocols and contributing to a positive work environment. Work Environment This job operates in a post-acute setting. This role requires regular walking to various locations around the facility. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. Team member is expected to adhere to facility's no-smoking policy. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 60 pounds. Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a position in a post-acute setting that is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Weekend and holiday shifts will be required. Team member are permitted to use and/or disclose only minimum amount of Protected Health Information necessary to complete assigned tasks. Reports all suspected violation of company's HIPAA policies or procedures to facility CEO. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 1. Ability to recognize and react to emergent care situations and intervene while waiting for assistance, i.e. recognizing need for basic life support, control bleeding, choking, etc. 2. Basic computer skills. Must have an ability to learn new systems 3. Proficient in the English language. Good communication (verbal and written), customer service and interpersonal skills 4. Flexibility in responding courteously to immediate needs of internal and external customers; ability to establish priorities and maintain productivity despite numerous interruptions 5. Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with team members, customers and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in diverse workplace and with a diverse customer population 6. Must be able to successfully prioritize workload, demonstrate initiative, and analyze situations to make sound decisions 7. Must show initiative and take action on observed needs Required Education/Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred Education/Experience One year experience in a healthcare or caregiving role
