Position Summary:
The Attendant/Caregiver provides compassionate, non-medical personal care and support to clients in their homes. The caregiver assists clients with activities of daily living and other authorized services according to the client's individual plan of care, while promoting safety, dignity, independence, and comfort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist clients with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene. Assist with eating, meal preparation, and other daily living activities as authorized. Provide companionship and emotional support. Assist with mobility, positioning, transfers, and ambulation as appropriate. Provide light housekeeping and maintain a clean and safe client environment. Assist with errands and transportation-related needs when authorized. Provide medication reminders as permitted by the client's care plan and applicable requirements. Observe and report changes in the client's condition, behavior, or needs to the appropriate supervisor. Follow the client's individualized plan of care and agency policies and procedures. Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation and visit verification. Protect client privacy and maintain confidentiality. Communicate professionally and respectfully with clients, families, supervisors, and other care team members. Report safety concerns, emergencies, incidents, or suspected abuse or neglect according to agency procedures. Perform other duties related to the client's care as assigned and permitted by the applicable plan of care.
Qualifications:
18 or older Compassionate, dependable, and trustworthy. Ability to work independently in a client's home. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to safely assist with routine personal-care activities. Must meet applicable Texas and agency requirements for a personal care attendant. Reliable transportation may be required depending on the assigned client. Prior caregiving or personal-care experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
The position may require standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, assisting with transfers, and performing personal-care tasks. Physical requirements vary according to the client's needs and assigned duties.
Work Environment:
Work is primarily performed in clients' private residences and may involve working with elderly, disabled, or otherwise eligible individuals who require assistance with daily activities.
