This vital role involves providing high-quality personal care and medication assistance to residents in a senior living or healthcare facility. Responsibilities Administer medications accurately and safely according to prescribed schedules, following all protocols for medication management and documentation. Assist residents with daily personal care activities, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, reporting any abnormalities promptly to nursing staff. Support residents with specialized needs such as tube feeding, catheter care, or dementia-related behaviors while maintaining patient confidentiality. Document all care activities thoroughly using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems in compliance with HIPAA and state healthcare regulations. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive environment that promotes dignity and respect. Assist with mobility and manual handling tasks safely, including heavy lifting when necessary, adhering to proper techniques for resident safety. Collaborate effectively with nursing staff and other caregivers to ensure comprehensive resident care plans are followed accurately. Requirements Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospitals, or home care environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and senior/dementia care best practices. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are advantageous. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while maintaining proper body mechanics. Understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining resident confidentiality at all times. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or those requiring hospice or memory care is desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and engage empathetically with residents.
