  • Job Description:
  • We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as a Youth Special Needs In-Home Respite Worker.
This part-time position offers flexible hours promoting work-life balance. It is an ideal for those who are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children and their families with a variety of needs and goals who enjoys the professional challenge of learning and adapting for each individual. As a Respite Worker, you will provide essential support and care to youth with special needs in the comfort of their homes and potentially out in the community.
  • This is a Part-Time position. Total hours are variable and coordinated based on client needs and staff availability, offering a highly flexible schedule . Primary service hours align with after-school (afternoon/evenings) and weekends with expanded schedules during school breaks/summer.
  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide attentive and personalized care to children with special needs, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
Engage in activities that promote physical, emotional, and social development tailored to each child's unique needs. Collaborate with families, caregivers, and Care Coordinators to develop and implement individualized care plans. Assist with daily living activities, including meal preparation, personal hygiene, toileting. Maintain a positive and supportive environment, offering encouragement and assistance as needed. Document and report any changes in the child's behavior, progress, and areas for growth and communicate openly with family and Care Coordinators. Foster an inclusive and respectful atmosphere, promoting the child's autonomy and self-esteem as well as emotional awareness and regulation.
  • Qualifications:
  • Previous experience working with children with special needs is preferred.
18 years or older with a High School Diploma or Equivalent; required. Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Special Education, or related field; preferred. Strong interpersonal and open communication skills with a growth mindset. Ability to work independently and adapt to varying environments and family dynamics. Compassionate, patient, and understanding demeanor. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required for travel to client homes. Flexibility in availability to accommodate varying schedules, including evenings and weekends.
