As a Community Companion (independent contractor), you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live with greater independence, connection, and confidence. This role is about more than support, it is about helping people reach their goals, experience new opportunities, and thrive in their community. You will work closely with each person and their support team to provide individualized, meaningful support that truly changes lives.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid WY Driver's License, have reliable transportation, maintain a clean driving record, and provide proof of insurance per company guidelines.
  • Must pass a motor vehicle record (MVR), background check, and other screenings required by Overture.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and communicate information and ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must have access to a reliable computer and possess basic computer skills.
  • Current medication administration certification, CPR, and First Aid Certification (or ability to (re)certify within 30-days of employment).
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
As a Community Companion, you will:
  • Support individuals in staying safe, active, and engaged at home and in the community.
  • Encourage independence by helping with daily living skills, social activities, and community participation.
  • Assist or supervise with tasks such as meals, laundry, shopping, and light housekeeping when related to care and supervision.
  • Provide personal care and medication assistance as needed.
  • Offer transportation to appointments, events, and getting out into the community.
  • Keep accurate records and communicate clearly with support teams.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and follow reporting guidelines.
  • Always treat individuals with dignity and respect, fostering inclusion and independence in every interaction.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds and perform basic physical tasks safely.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work involves assisting individuals who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, including managing challenging behaviors at times.
  • Flexibility, patience, and problem-solving skills are important in this role.
