Job Description

The Palmer Criminal Division of the Alaska Court System (ACS) is recruiting for a Court Case Manager 2 (salary range 12). This position requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Employees transferring from another State of Alaska agency may receive consideration for advance step placement.

• Personnel rules will be applied to determine step placement for the successful internal candidate. The Position Independently processes criminal and minor offense case filings in accordance with established procedures, reviewing documents, motions, judgments, and court notes for compliance with applicable rules and statutes. Communicates with attorneys and self-represented parties regarding filing requirements, deficiencies, and proper procedures. Maintains and updates the CourtView motions tracking system, processes expedited pleadings, and reviews audit reports to ensure filings are accurately tracked and processed. Provides technical and procedural assistance to court staff, attorneys, agencies, and the public without providing legal advice. Provides backup support and training for other department desks, assists as an In-Court Clerk when needed. Provides exemplary customer service to court patrons at the public counter, by email, and by phone. Assists self-represented litigants, attorneys, and other agencies with inquiries regarding court cases, forms, and procedures. Communicates accurate information and guidance while maintaining appropriate boundaries and refraining from providing legal advice. Reviews new cases and pleadings for compliance with court rules and procedural requirements, enters case and docket information into CourtView, and handles confidential and priority documents appropriately. Assists customers with accessing archived and non-archived court records and processes criminal and minor offense records requests. Cross-train in multiple positions to provide operational coverage and continuity of court services. Assist with training and onboarding of staff, prepare criminal files for archiving, refile cases as necessary, and provide administrative support to other departments and court personnel as assigned. The Work Schedule Full-time court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break. OR Graduation from high school or completion of a General Education Development (GED) certificate AND completion of a two-year paralegal curriculum from an accredited institution. EDUCATION

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. If utilizing this education, you must show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in the interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the post-secondary institution. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
