Little Rock, AR 72223 — in personSchedule:
Monday to Friday, 8-hour shift, day shift; occasional travel within Arkansas Job description Consumer protection law firm in Little Rock seeking a Legal Assistant to run intake and manage litigation files. Corey D. McGaha, PLLC represents Arkansas consumers against car dealerships, lenders, debt buyers, and credit reporting agencies. We bring cases involving auto fraud — rolled-back odometers, undisclosed wreck and frame damage, title problems, yo-yo financing, wrongful repossession — and credit reporting violations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, both as individual lawsuits and as class actions. We've handled over 1,000 consumer matters. We're a small firm. That means you will not be one of six people passing a file around. You will own intake, own the case calendar, and work directly with the attorney every day. Law firm experience is preferred but not required. We will train the right person on consumer litigation. What we can't train is precision, follow-through, and the judgment to flag a problem the day it comes up. If you have those, we want to hear from you. What you'll do- Intake.
- Spot the class actions. When the same dealership or the same furnisher shows up three times in a month, you're the one who notices and says something.
- Case management. Own the docket. Calendar every deadline, monitor state and federal filings daily, keep files organized well enough that the attorney can pick any one up cold, and deliver a weekly status report on every active case.
- Service of process. Prepare summonses and filing packages, e-file in Arkansas circuit courts (eFlex) and federal CM/ECF, locate registered agents, hire and manage process servers, and drive service to completion inside Rule 4(i)'s 120-day window — escalating early when a defendant is dodging.
- Discovery. Draft responses to interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission. Chase down client documents, organize and Bates label productions, build deposition exhibit sets. Drafts reach the attorney at least a week before the deadline.
- Client communication. Return every call within one business day. Give every active client a real status update at least monthly, without being asked.
- Firm operations. Track litigation costs by matter, process and reconcile vendor invoices, order records and manage subpoena logistics, and support class action administration. What we're looking for
- Someone who can juggle a lot of deadlines at once and hit them without being reminded — whatever field you've done it in
- Strong professional writing. What you draft goes to opposing counsel and to judges.
- Meticulous attention to detail. This is a job where a wrong VIN or a misspelled company name is a real problem.
- The ability to pick up detailed rules quickly and apply them exactly
- Patience and genuine warmth with clients who are often under real financial stress
- Someone who closes loops without being chased. In a firm this size, a dropped task doesn't get caught by anyone else.
- Comfort with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and willingness to learn new software
- Discretion with confidential information, without exception
- High school diploma or equivalent Helpful, but not required — we'll train
- Experience in a law office supporting litigation
- Familiarity with civil procedure — pleadings, service of process, written discovery, deadlines
- E-filing experience in Arkansas circuit courts (eFlex) or federal CM/ECF
- Paralegal certificate or degree
- Consumer law exposure — FCRA, FDCPA, TILA, Magnuson-Moss, the federal Odometer Act, the Arkansas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, or auto fraud
- Background in customer service, insurance, healthcare, collections, or automotive sales and finance — the documents and the conversations will look familiar
- Spanish fluency What we offer
- Hourly pay dependent on experience;
- Paid time off — earned after six months
- Paid holidays
- Training and direct mentorship from the attorney, with real responsibility from day one
- Work that matters: our clients are ordinary consumers up against far better-resourced companies How to apply Send your resume and a short cover note to wlrlawoffice@gmail.
