Position Summary:
Primary duties include establishing and maintaining a presence at several community locations to build trusted relationships with community-based partners including the Black Child Legacy Campaign's Community Incubation Leads and Child Protective Services. The Advocate provides supportive services to adult and youth victims of domestic and sexual violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and sex trafficking. Services provided by the Advocate include emotional support, individual case management and supportive services, crisis intervention, facilitating educational and peer counseling groups and activities, advocacy, and referrals. To succeed in this position, the Advocate should be a self-starter with enthusiasm, flexibility and motivation. The Advocate must be organized, have the willingness and ability to build and maintain positive relationships, facilitate groups and activities, be open minded and able to hold space for non-judgmental conversation and healing, as well as able to advocate confidently and hold appropriate boundaries.Essential Functions:
Crisis Response, Peer Support, and Advocacy/Case Management Hold regular office hours at specified community-based organizations in Sacramento. Build rapport with organization staff and community members. Provide immediate crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, education, and referrals as needed. Provide follow-up appointments and calls to victims identified by the partner agencies in the community. Provide case management to assist clients in obtaining self-identified goals, strengths, and strategies to overcome barriers. Serve as a liaison for clients seeking services with partner agencies (housing, medical, social services, etc). Assist clients with filing CalVCB claims. Assist clients with accessing resources available to help achieve self-sufficiency. Attend multidisciplinary team meetings with community partners. Facilitate educational and peer support groups for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Maintain accurate client records and enter data into database in a timely manner. Assist the Client Prosperity Team with program responsibilities including grant objective monitoring and timely completion of grant reports. Assist in the maintenance of current community resources and Client Prosperity stakeholder list. Communicate with supervisor, as needed, for support and supervision. Work collaboratively with other WEAVE Departments to develop and implement services. Other Responsibilities/Duties Willingness and Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for outreach events. Model appropriate professional behavior and intervention skills. Attend mandatory program and staff meetings. Respond to emails, phone calls, and text messages promptly. Other tasks as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS degree and 2 years' experience or 3-5 years of experience or any combination of education and experience to meet job requirements. Experience with domestic violence, sexual assault or human trafficking services preferred Excellent communication, both written and verbal. Excellent crisis intervention, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Reflective of communities served. Commitment to Equity and Inclusion work. Regular attendance. Experience and comfort with the use of Microsoft Suite. Complete WEAVE's 69-hour classroom peer counselor training (post-hiring requirement) and attend amount of required continuing education to maintain certification. Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof vehicle insurance. Satisfactory results from DOJ background check.ADA Job Characteristics:
Work environment is primarily from WEAVE's Midtown office and co-located with BCLC Community-based organizations. Local travel (driving) is required to provide services, respond to calls and attend off-site meetings. Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back to open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items, climb a ladder or stairs, or use an elevator. Sit frequently. Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes, complete and file reports, file and copy documents. Corrected vision to normal range. Speak in normal vocal tone and range and communicate clearly and concisely to and with others.
