SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Family Strengthening Services Specialist IPosition SummaryThe Family Strengthening Services Specialist I provides short-term, in-home and community-based support to families identified as low-risk and referred through Child Welfare Intake (CWI), Child Welfare Services (CWS), or Voluntary Case Management (VCM). This role focuses on engaging families, strengthening parenting skills, and connecting families to resources to promote stability and well-being.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide outreach and home visiting services to assigned familiesConduct intake and comprehensive family assessments to identify strengths, needs, and risk factorsEngage families in developing Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) and service goalsDeliver education and coaching on parenting, child development, stress management, nurturing relationships, and family functioningConnect families to appropriate community resources and support servicesAdvocate for families and assist them in navigating systems to access needed servicesProvide transportation to medical, legal, and social service appointments, as appropriate and with supervisory approvalMaintain communication with referral sources regarding family participation, including cases where families cannot be located or decline servicesComplete timely and accurate documentation, including progress notes, service plans, mileage logs, and required reportsMaintain strict confidentiality of all client information in accordance with agency policies and professional standards
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Four-Year College Degree from a school accredited by a recognized accrediting agency, social work, psychology, or related field.
Other (Specify): Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution required. EXPERIENCEOver one year, up to and including two yearsOther (Specify): A minimum of 1 year experience working with families experiencing child abuse and neglect issues.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
REQUIREDKnowledge of child growth, development and behavior; positive parenting practices; case management and advocacy practices and techniques preferred. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with families of diverse ethnic, cultural, socio-economic backgrounds and gender/sexual orientation. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required. Valid drivers license, current no-fault insurance coverage, satisfactory drivers abstract, access to an insured vehicle.
OTHER POSITION REQUIREMENTS
