DIRECT SERVICE 1.

Provide legal advocacy to clients, with a focus on Order of Protection process and Illinois Domestic Violence Act (IDVA) advocacy 2. Provide crisis line response 3. Provide domestic violence support and education to clients and others who contact the agency 4. Available for crisis counseling 5. Assist clients with Crime Victim Compensation application 6. Document direct service and maintain client records in a timely and accurate manner 7. Provide transportation in accordance with HOPE's Personnel Policies to assist clients with access to resources

STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES 1.

Maintain confidentiality of all clients and uphold duties as mandated reporter of child abuse 2. Primary staff member to provide legal advocacy services 3. Assist with providing IDVA training to new staff and volunteers who are completing their 40-hour domestic violence training. 4. Train members of law enforcement and the legal system 5. Provide in-services to domestic violence staff on legal advocacy matters 6. Provide community education and training as requested to address the issue of dating/domestic abuse. 7. Participate in staff meetings, case management, and in-service trainings 8. Complete time sheet documentation and daily logs for all funding sources related to the position 9. Participate in continuing education, training and follows developments in the field of domestic violence 10. Knowledge of HOPE Policies and Procedures 11. Perform other duties as assigned by Legal Advocate Coordinator or Executive Director 12. QUALIFICATIONS 1.

Bachelor's degree or associate's +2 years of experience working/volunteering in social services or the criminal justice system 2. Effective communication skills 3. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook and an ability to learn how to use other Microsoft Office software, as well as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace apps and features 4. Ability to set limits and priorities 5. Ability to maintain confidentiality 6. Illinois 40 hour domestic violence certification 7. Pass Criminal Background check and CANTS (DCFS) check 8. Bilingual in Spanish

OTHER REQUIREMENTS 1.

Ability to communicate verbally and in writing 2. Ability to drive a car 3. Ability to use a computer, standard phone equipment and electronic office equipment 4. Ability to climb stairs 5. Ability to lift 25 pounds
