  • Contract Job Summary The DCS Caseworker is responsible for managing cases involving children and families to ensure the safety, well-being, and permanency of children under the supervision of the Department of Child Services.
The caseworker will conduct investigations, assessments, and coordinate resources and services to support families in need. This role involves working directly with parents, children, foster families, and community agencies to advocate for the best interests of the child. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct home visits, supervised visitations, and interviews with children, families, and service providers.
  • Assess family situations, identify needs and risks, and develop case plans in collaboration with families and service providers.
  • Monitor and support compliance with court-ordered services and treatment goals, including parenting skills, substance abuse treatment, and safety planning.
  • Document case activities, developments, and progress notes accurately in case management systems.
  • Coordinate and refer families to community resources such as counseling, medical care, educational support, and housing.
  • Attend court hearings, provide testimony, and prepare reports as required.
  • Maintain communication with legal teams, foster care providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure child safety and welfare during case activities and visitations.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines in case management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations and work with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of child welfare laws, family dynamics, and trauma-informed care.
  • Experience working with children and families in social service settings preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer use, including case management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to travel frequently throughout the community.
  • Capacity to conduct home visits in varying environments.
  • Ability to work in sometimes stressful or challenging situations.
The DCS Caseworker role is critical in protecting children's welfare and supporting families toward reunification or other permanency goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate commitment to ethical practice, cultural sensitivity, and collaborative problem-solving.
