Job Description
Company Overview Catalyst Rescue Mission is a 135-bed homeless shelter in Jeffersonville, IN. Our mission is to help end homelessness in Southern Indiana by providing emergency shelter, case management, life skills training, and social services that propel people into housing permanency.. Summary The Intake Specialist supports Catalyst Rescue Mission by assisting Southern Indiana's homeless population by being responsible for the intake process of all clients, keeping the building secure at all times, resolving any identifiable conflicts between clients, maintaining the policies and procedures of the shelter.. Responsibilities Serve as the initial point of contact to the center; welcoming and registering clients at our site. Manage the Catalyst Rescue Mission's intake process. Conducting telephone and in-person interviews with clients and identifying potential issues/roadblocks. Obtaining relevant documents from clients, school districts and other agencies. Scanning all pertinent information into our case management system. Maintaining a list of appropriate referral agencies/organizations and referring appropriate clients to these agencies/organizations. Develop strong rapport with all clients encouraging their strengths. Serve as role model and engage clients using healthy behavioral modeling. Inform clients of site policies and procedures and share the sites daily and special event schedules. Quickly identify and seek to resolve conflicts and behavioral problems in consultation with the Shelter Man-ager. Adhere to agency policy, procedures and professional code of ethics. Complete all duties as assigned. Other duties as required. Requirements Experience working in a Social Services or related field. Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of hire. Must have a working knowledge and utilization of community resources in Southern Indiana. Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Must be well organized, detail oriented, dependable and have the ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work with diverse client population and community organizations as well as staff at all levels. Willingness to work occasional over nights and weekends when necessary. Ability to show patience and courtesy when working with people is a necessity. Good working knowledge of computers with familiarity of Microsoft Office. Must have a valid Indiana Driver's License, provide copy of driver's license. Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.
