Position Summary:

The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.

Essential Responsibilities:

Assist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelterAssist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean-upAssure the shelter area is kept clean and orderlyAssure residents follow shelter policies and proceduresTransport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical careFacilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelterPerform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Maintain strict client confidentialityLearn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of EthicsAdhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensingUnderstand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organizationDemonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliation

Computer Skills:

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePointBasic computer skills

Certificates and Licenses:
