Awake Overnight Shelter Advocate (Full-Time) 3.6 3.6 out of 5 stars Duluth, MN 55812 $21.16 an hour - Full-time Safe Haven Shelter & Resource Center 7 reviews $21.16 an hour - Full-time We are currently hiring for an Awake Overnight Advocate to work a rotating block schedule, with an additional $1.20/ hr for hours worked between 11pm-7am. The schedule is currently 10:00pm-7:30am, 8 nights on (Wednesday to Wednesday)/ 6 nights off (Thursday to Tuesday) . Safe Haven Shelter Advocates provide safety and support for survivors of domestic violence in our Crisis Shelter program. Our team works together to create a living environment centered on the dignity and safety of survivors in an ever-changing, fast-paced work environment. The ideal candidate will have lived-experience of domestic violence and/or work-related experience with vulnerable populations like victims of violent crime, the unhoused community, and those struggling with mental health or substance use. Other relevant experience could include a background in helping others solve problems (such as a PCA or CNA, a caregiver, a server in a busy restaurant or café, a customer service representative, an ARMHS worker or case manager). A college degree is not required, however someone holding or seeking a degree in the helping or human service professions would also be a good fit for the position. All Safe Haven Advocates must be able to multitask while centering the needs of survivors in a busy environment. Advocates must also be able to: Communicate effectively with shelter guests and colleagues; Maintain focus and attention to detail despite distractions; Reliably commute to work; Pass a background check administered by the MN Department of Human Services. This position is responsible for working awake overnight hours. Schedule is determined monthly and is subject to change based on the needs of the shelter program.
