Job Description

•This is a time-limited, year-to-year, grant funded position which is reviewed for funding each year in August• Make a meaningful impact in the community by joining our Justice Services Department as a Re-Entry Program Caseworker. In this role, you will support individuals transitioning back into the community by helping them overcome barriers, access critical resources, and build a foundation for long-term success. This position offers the opportunity to advocate for participants, encourage positive change, and work collaboratively with community partners in a supportive, service-driven environment. Provides assistance to clients, assess barriers to client success for reentry from incarceration Conducts initial intake screening and assess for services needed Provides guidance, direction, and support in connecting with available resources Serves as case manager for program participants; obtains treatment and other agency releases of information; refers for treatment assessment to clinical entities; and assists in preparation of service plans Enters data into a case management information system Tracks progress and records outcomes Updates program coordinator of unique or non-routine situations for resolution Provides follow-up services as needed and maintains records and logs of supportive services provided Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in a human services or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management Preference:
Some experience working in reentry with paroled offenders, case management, and/or multi-agency planning teams. Knowledge of standard office procedures and standard software applications, vocational training resources, safety, security, and emergency procedures, and community-based correctional education programs Knowledge of current practices, procedures, legislation, and issues related to reintegration of offenders Ability to work cooperatively with individuals and groups to develop and maintain positive working relationships Ability to set priorities and met timelines Ability to communicate effectively in both writing and oral forms
Conditions of Employment:
A formal transcript will be required. College transcripts may be submitted on-line via the attachment feature or mailed to Cumberland County Human Resources, 117 Dick St. Fayetteville, NC 28301 Driving is an essential function of this position. To be considered, you must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. If your driver's license is from another state, you will be required to obtain and show proof of a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire. Successful candidates who receive a conditional offer of employment with Cumberland County must pass pre-employment screenings, including criminal history checks and drug screenings, as required by Cumberland County Policies and Procedures, prior to beginning work or receiving a final offer of employment.
