Summary:
The Case Management Assistant, under the direction of the Director of Case Management assists in the administration of Case Management functions to include, but not limited to, organization of work flow, communications, critical information tracking, and links with community resources. The position is focused on supporting the role of the Case Management department in optimizing the Care Management process and Case Manager efficiency and effectiveness.Responsibilities:
Patients/Families, Hospital staff, Medical Staff, Community agencies, and Insurance Companies are served by conducting interpersonal relationships in a manner that projects a positive image of the department and hospital. All contacts with customers are friendly, helpful and courteous.LENOIR Other information:
EDUCATION
High School diploma or equivalent required.EXPERIENCE 2-3
years of secretarial or administrative assistant experience preferred. Prior experience in a hospital or related setting preferred. Advanced education beyond high school preferred in business or healthcare related field.LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
NoneOTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Medical terminology knowledge coursework or experience preferred. Ability to work effectively under pressure due to changing priorities, interruptions, high/low census, payer demands and discharge planning demands. Excellent interpersonal communication, including conflict resolution, problem solving and negotiation skills. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in interactions with physicians, payers, patients and their families. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to communicate with third party payers to obtain authorization for the appropriate treatment. Must be proficient in required competencies upon completion of orientation and maintain annual departmental competency requirements. Ability to work collaboratively regardless of social, economic and cultural backgrounds. Office skills including use of a PC, fax machine, copy machine, printer, multi-line phones.
