Job Description

Crisis Intervention Advocate Job Description Must Live Within 30 minutes of
Nashua Job Classification:
Non-Exempt Part Time (25 hours per week) Pre-Service qualifications : Relevant college degree, course work, or work experience. Effective communication skills and desire to work on the topics of domestic violence, sexual violence, child abuse and elder abuse. Ability to intervene appropriately in crisis situations and to maintain client confidentiality. Successful completion of 35 hours of pre-service training required.
Supervision:
The Crisis Intervention Advocate is supervised directly by the Direct Service Program and will participate in biweekly supervisory meetings. In addition, the Crisis Intervention Advocate will be required to participate in weekly agency staff meetings and regular clinical supervision sessions.
Responsibilities:
1. Respond to clients in crisis. Identify problems, explore options, and support clients in making their own decisions. 2. Offer emotional support, assistance, advocacy, referral information, and follow-up as needed. 3. Facilitation and development of support groups. 4. Document all direct service activities. Record client statistical data, including referrals if any, and maintain related agency documentation. 5. Advocate with clients in the courts, police stations, hospitals, and other agencies, as determined by the client involved. Provide limited transportation to clients. 6. Collaborate with other staff to enhance direct service delivery as assigned. 7. Develop and maintain contacts with other human service providers in the greater Nashua Area. 8. Participate in back-rotation. 9. Promote the agency's mission. 10. Adhere to expectations consistent with Bridges definition of cultural competence. These expectations seek to clarify the knowledge, attitudes, skills and practices that would need to provide culturally and linguistic competent services to the diverse populations of the Greater Nashua area. 11. Attend training programs and use practices that promote culturally competent services. 12. Participate in agency fundraising events. 13. Other duties as assigned.
