Are you looking to make a difference? If so, Anchor House is the perfect place for you! Having served the Trenton area for more than 45 years, Anchor House has been providing services to youth and young adults who have run away and those that are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, abuse, or neglect. We are looking to add to our dynamic team! Our ideal candidate is looking for a career with purpose in an established organization that is big enough to offer work in different areas, but still small enough that you are known by your name and not just a number. We are currently seeking a Street Outreach Counselor , for our Trenton based programs, to join our team. In this role, you'll directly impact the lives of runaway, homeless, and street youth by providing crucial outreach, crisis intervention, and support services to help them transition to safety and stability. By building trusting relationships, offering guidance, and connecting youth with resources, you'll empower them to leave the streets and access opportunities for a brighter future. This position is Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Salary Range:
$50,000-$53,000
What You'll Do:
  • Conduct outreach and education to engage runaway, homeless, and street youth, building trust and encouraging them to leave dangerous street environments.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention for youth at risk of sexual abuse and exploitation, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Facilitate access to emergency shelter, transitional housing, and essential survival resources for street youth.
  • Offer individual assessments and counseling, particularly for youth struggling with substance abuse, and connect them with appropriate services.
  • Support family reunification through home-based interventions and provide transportation as needed.
  • Lead educational presentations on the risks of street life, available services, and community resources for youth, parents, and community members.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, statistics, and documentation in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the upkeep of program vehicles and participate in program maintenance tasks.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community partners to create opportunities for youth, including volunteer roles and job placements.
  • Provide aftercare services, offering ongoing case management and connecting youth with continued support from community agencies.
What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in social work, psychology or a related human services field.
  • 1+ years experience working with at risk youth
  • Experience in crisis intervention and youth services with a proven ability to handle high-pressure situations, provide immediate crisis support, and offer trauma-informed care to at-risk youth.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with an exceptional ability to engage with vulnerable youth, build trust, and foster positive, supportive relationships with individuals in crisis.
What We Offer:
Anchor House offers a team that is welcoming, inclusive, and supportive, a structured new hire training program, and an embedded belief that by working together and through strong community partnerships WE can make a difference!
We also offer:
  • Medical coverage (at no cost to employees)
  • Dental and Vision coverage
  • $500 towards co-pays and deductibles
  • 403(b) Pension Plan with contributions (25% of your contribution up to 5%, plus an additional 2% contribution)
  • Life insurance and Long-term Disability
  • Paid Time Off (starting at 23 days, earning one day per month in your first year)
  • Free, on-site parking All positions require a valid driver's license in good standing and the ability to pass a criminal background check, including CARI and CHRI.
