• Why does the job exist? The incumbent is responsible for providing constituents or their representatives with responsive, personal assistance if or when they request help, have questions, or seek clarification regarding CYFD programs or services. This position requires a very high level of customer service for internal and external stakeholders, strong communication skills, ability to remain objective, good writing skills, and effective time management. This position will make decisions in the handling of constituency issues and cases by facilitating discussions regarding the provision of services to CYFD clients with adherence to agency policies and procedures. The incumbent must be able to assess complex complaints from foster parents, clients, law enforcement, community providers, legislators and others to initiate solutions based on number of factors, including, but not limited to applicable law and regulation, confidentiality requirements, funding and appropriateness of staff actions. This individual will need to ensure successful resolution of these problems within these constraints. How does it get done? Provide assistance to CYFD clients who have received voluntary or involuntary services from the Department. The Constituency Services Manager provides clients with an avenue to communicate their concerns to a CYFD office that is separate from the direct programs and services allowing for the office to provide general education/ information about CYFD programs and their processes/procedures and to also engage in quality improvement efforts where agency practices are inconsistent with the Department goals. This position will make decisions in the handling of constituency issues and cases by facilitating discussions regarding the provision of services to CYFD clients with adherence to agency policies and procedures. The incumbent must be able to assess complex complaints from foster parents, clients, law enforcement, community providers, legislators and others to initiate solutions based on number of factors, including, but not limited to applicable law and regulation, confidentiality requirements, funding and appropriateness of staff actions. This individual will need to ensure successful resolution of these problems within these constraints. Minimum Qualification Associate's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Ciminology, Family Studies/Services, Social Sciences, or Human Services and two (2) years of experience as a social work assistant and/or in social or community coordination, working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, and/or behavioral health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling four (4) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Working Conditions Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage.
