WHAT YOU'LL DO
The Residential Support Advocate provides empathetic, nonjudgmental support and direct case management services to individuals impacted by intimate partner violence, human trafficking, teen dating violence, sexual violence, and other forms of victimization. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, empowerment, and well-being of residents, fostering an environment where they can begin to heal and rebuild their lives.WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

Education & Experience:
An Associate's degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent work experience in crisis counseling and advocacy services.Technical Skills:
Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office programs and have experience with client management softwareLicense & Transportation:
Valid Driver's License, Auto Insurance, and reliable transportation to travel between the agency's office sites and other locations throughout the service region.Physical Demands:
Physical demands include but are not limited to long periods of sitting, standing, walking, driving, lifting up to 50 pounds, and navigating stairs.ADDITIONAL VALUE
Demonstrated ability to navigate and connect across diverse cultural contexts, applying cultural awareness and responsiveness in practice. Direct experience working within residential settings, social services, and community-based agencies is preferred. Spanish language fluency with demonstrated ability to provide translation support, including experience providing written and/or verbal translation with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and cultural context.CORE PERFORMANCE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Residential Advocacy (Field-Based & 24 hr. Hotline Services) 24-Hour Hotline:
Provide crisis intervention and support to callers on the agencys 24-hour hotline, offering immediate assistance with assessments, shelter screenings and intake interviews and referrals as needed.Crisis Counseling:
Offer empathetic, nonjudgmental, supportive crisis counseling to individual clients and by groups to help residents process their experiences of interpersonal violence, human trafficking, and other forms of victimization.Advocacy and Accompaniment:
Assist clients with preparing court documents, accessing support services, transportation needs, immigration-related support and exploring resources for legal, housing, and financial options.Safety Planning:
Develop and implement personalized safety plans for clients, continuously assessing risks and adapting strategies as necessary.Outreach and Follow-Up:
Maintain consistent follow-up contact with clients, ensuring they receive ongoing support as they navigate their journey. Liaison with NYS Office of Victim Services (OVS): Assist clients in filing for OVS compensation, ensuring accurate and timely communication with the OVS.Administrative & Agency Responsibilities Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all client interactions, ensuring that documentation is up-to-date and submitted as directed.Confidentiality:
Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality, protecting the privacy of clients, staff, volunteers, and proprietary agency information.Supervision & Meetings:
Actively participate in supervision sessions, team meetings, training programs, and agency events.Communication & Decision Making:
Ensure timely and professional communication, including responding to emails and voicemails promptly. Ability to model and uphold appropriate boundaries in work with clients, colleagues, supervisors, and the community.Flexibility & Adaptability:
Be responsive to changes in duties and responsibilities, adapting as necessary to meet the needs of the program and its clients.Worksite Safety & Security Residence Maintenance:
Engage in basic housekeeping tasks, manage donations, and ensure the living environment remains clean, safe, and welcoming.Safety Compliance:
Conduct regular safety checks of the shelter, ensuring compliance with state and agency regulations.Health and Hygiene:
Ensure that the residence meets all health and hygiene standards, fostering a safe environment for all residents.Confidentiality:
Adhere to and uphold agency policies and protocols related to the security and confidentiality of electronic and other forms of client service information and records.POSITION COMPENSATION, CLASS, AND SCHEDULE

40 hours per week, Sunday through Wednesday, with flexibility around evenings, weekends, and holidays; minimum one holiday per year required.Travel Requirements:
Some travel required, as needed, between the agency's office sites and other locations throughout the service region.On-Call Requirements:
