Job Overview Big Brothers Big Sisters Lone Star's mission is to build and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the biggest possible futures for youth.
Our theme is simple:
Mentoring Relationships Change Lives. Through one-to-one mentoring, BBBS Lone Star is dedicated to ensuring every child reaches their full potential. Our program specifically was built to ensure that all youth, regardless of background, have a plan after high school and the social capital to make it a reality. As we look to expand our reach and broaden opportunities to more and more young people, we need an essential teammate playing a pivotal role in this process.
Hybrid position:
Work from Home/Office/Field in the Tarrant market .
Position Summary:
The Program Generalist
  • Tarrant/Denton County provides direct delivery of Program services, including enrollment and match support, to children, parents and volunteers.
May be responsible for any of the Program functions to provide services to clients and volunteers within the market area from inquiry to match completion.
Essential Functions, Responsibilities, and Activities:
Enrollment Schedule and conduct volunteer and child enrollment for the agency's Community Based, School/Site Based and mentor2.0 programs which includes interviews, individual orientations, child safety information, home assessments, and completion of any other required checks as required by BBBSA and the agency's Program Manual Provide timely and comprehensive assessments and recommendations for participation in the program based upon interviews and other information from each volunteer and client Adhere to documentation standards according to BBBSA and agency guidelines Input complete information into Matchforce (database) as it is gathered Matching Research agency database to identify potential matche s Conduct phone calls with parent/guardians presenting potential volunteers for match and do the same with volunteers presenting potential mentees for match Schedule Match Introductions for new matches with appropriate Match Support Specialists or for self Conduct volunteer and child reassessments/updates Match Support Maintain a caseload of Community Based, School Based and/or mentor2.0 matches as assigned and provide match support and relationship development as defined in the Program Manual Contact volunteers, parents and children according to agency standards based on length of match to:
  • Provide both on-going risk management and support to keep the match going
  • Discuss match activities, personal safety reminders, and goal accomplishments
  • Make assessments of individual training needs, information, and support needs for each participant; and
  • Share information about agency activities Complete match closures and re-engage volunteers, children and parents as appropriate after match closure Conduct match evaluations/satisfaction surveys and annual outcome evaluations with parent, child and volunteer; input according to BBBSA and Program Manual Write and input comprehensive assessment notes within agency database regarding case management discussions according to BBBSA and agency timeframes and standards for every touch point with a match participant.
Attend match activities as assigned, seeking opportunities to make meaningful in-person contact with matches mentor2.0 Facilitate high impact relationships between matches including enrollment, monitoring participation, providing individualized attention, proactively assisting relationships through regular communication, support and advice, and identifying matches who need additional support and implement strategies to improve relationships Lead weekly mentor2.0 class for mentees at participating schools, including discussion of weekly curriculum Lead orientations and training for teachers and mentees Organize and staff monthly mentor-mentee events by overseeing all logistics, content, and budgets. Also responsible for multiple large scale and multifaceted events (i.e. career workshops, museum visits, end-of-year events) as budget allows, which includes evening and some weekend commitments Develop and manage relationships with schools, including teachers and administration Track match participation, engagement and outcomes, such as participation benchmark, and all surveys Support all aspects of program implementation ALL Become familiar with community resources for client information/referral, share knowledge and information with staff members as appropriate Attend and participate in all team, staff, and program meetings Assist with agency special events as needed Maintain state licensure, when applicable Other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, and Other Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a social or human science, such as social work, sociology or psychology Experience in a social service field preferred Strong critical thinking and organizational skills Prior experience with intake, assessment or case management of adults and/or children preferred Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel with at least 45 words per minute, error free Must be willing and able to work with diverse populations. Flexibility and availability to work early evening weekday hours and occasional weekends, as well as travel in the assigned service area Bilingual English/Spanish fluency preferred but not required Candidate should reside in northern Tarrant County or southern Denton County. Position reports to our Arlington, TX office.
