The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside Utah state boundaries. The Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) Sandy Office is seeking a highly motivated individual with professional work experience in an office setting to fill a Kinship Locator, Senior Assistant Caseworker position. Key Responsibilities A Senior Assistant Caseworker, Office Support, Kinship Locator is a clerical position who serves as a resource to the professional child welfare staff by providing direct client services including: Assisting with searching for family/kin for any children entering state custody by using a variety of resource applications. Sending letters to notify kin, and documenting and notifying parental searches, vitals, probation and parole, and child protective services (CPS) with all of the back end information for the cases. Case documentation (case histories, activity logs, correspondence, etc.). Office support by receiving, handling, and dispatching complaints, and maintaining records of lawsuits and constituent complaints. May input data on computerized systems and maintain case files. Providing administrative support to the regional director and the regional administrative team. A valid driver's license may be required if an employee is required to transport clients. A Senior Assistant Caseworker, Office Support, Kinship Locator in this position also: Prepares and/or processes documents; reviews for accuracy and completeness; updates information and/or evaluates against policy; compares elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc., for example, adoption subsidy paperwork completion, assisting with completing Medicaid applications, reviewing and submitting court documents for child welfare staff, etc.) Ensures compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc. Maintains and/or creates files or record keeping systems. Sorts, labels, files and retrieves documents, or other materials. Provides assistance and/or on-the-job training. Acts as a resource for management and staff; provides technical support within areas of responsibility. Assists in covering the reception area. Receives incoming telephone calls and direct calls to appropriate office or individual using a central switchboard or multi-line telephone system. Greets and assists walk-in clients. Mails certified mail to clients or sheriff; tracking in SAFE case system. Retrieves files for workers, AGs, supervisors, and audits. Assists with 24-hour notifications and priors. Takes and transcribes minutes at meetings. Completing Clear Search requests for child welfare staff Qualifications Communicates effectively, clearly, and concisely verbally and in writing. Understands information and ideas presented verbally. Service oriented, actively looking for ways to help people. Adept at dealing with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism. Problem sensitivity, the ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. Preference Preference may be given to candidate who have: Previous and/or current experience working for the Utah Division of Child & Family Services (DCFS) Experience working in an office setting Experience working with the State's social welfare database system, SAFE Adobe Pro experience Physical Requirements Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work. Working Conditions Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated, e.g., safe use of equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc. About the Role Location
