is a community-based nonprofit organization that has served residents of Westchester and surrounding areas for over 140 years. We provide comprehensive services and programs for individuals and families of diverse backgrounds and ages. The Resident Service Coordinator will work on site at a Yonkers affordable housing property offering residents a comprehensive array of services in order to support housing stability.Responsibilities:
Conduct psycho-social and environmental assessments Collaborate with building management to identify and resolve rent arrears, behavioral and housekeeping issues, etc. Help residents maximize their income by applying for all financial benefits and entitlements they are eligible for Provide rapid advocacy when needed to prevent or reverse improper termination of benefits Link to medical, or mental health/behavioral health, or chemical dependency services Refer to local agencies and service providers Coordinate educational events on subjects relating to health care, life skills, referral sources, employment seeking skills and employment opportunities Monitor the ongoing provision of services from community agencies and serve as a liaison to seek out new services available to residents Assist residents in strengthening support networks Provide monthly statistical and narrative report Deliver holiday-themed engagement events Help develop a system for referrals for Medicaid billing 6 months after start date Provide ongoing monitoring and follow-upQualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Social Work (BSW), Psychology, Counseling, Human Services, Sociology, or a closely related behavioral or social science field is required. A Master's degree in a related field is preferred. Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience providing case management, care coordination, resident services, or social services to vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, older adults, individuals with disabilities, or low-income households. Demonstrated experience working in permanent supportive housing, affordable housing, homeless services, behavioral health, or another community-based human services setting is required. Strong knowledge of community resources and supportive service systems, including public benefits, healthcare, behavioral health, substance use treatment, employment services, financial assistance, and other programs that promote housing stability and resident self-sufficiency. Experience conducting comprehensive needs assessments, developing individualized service plans, coordinating referrals, and maintaining accurate, timely, and confidential case documentation. Demonstrated knowledge of trauma-informed, person-centered, strengths-based, and culturally responsive service delivery practices, including crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, motivational interviewing, and harm reduction principles. Ability to establish trusting relationships with residents from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and linguistic backgrounds while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Excellent advocacy, organizational, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with property management, healthcare providers, community partners, and multidisciplinary teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic case management or Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) databases. Ability to manage multiple priorities, exercise sound judgment, work independently, and respond effectively in crisis situations while maintaining confidentiality and professional ethics. Knowledge of fair housing principles, tenant rights and responsibilities, and HUD or other affordable housing programs is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.Benefits:
