74/hour This is a nonexempt full-time position, including benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company's health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period. Our benefits program includes select health plans and dental plans at 100% cost coverage (for employee only), vision insurance, time off accruals and holiday pay. Work location This position will split time between remote work and our Inglewood office. This position involves meetings in the field at various locations across Los Angeles County. Schedule This is a full-time position. CYS has the following 9/80 work schedule: Monday
- Thursday, 8am
- 6pm. Friday, 8am
- 5pm, with every other Friday off.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social service, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience including outreach, facilitation/teaching experience (workshops, groups) with 2 years of experience working with youth or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate will be required to pass background clearance and TB test (TB test only when requested). Ability to practice cultural competency relating to the youth and communities that CYS serves. Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply restorative justice concepts, practices, and best practices. Ability to facilitate and coordinate supportive activities with other program staff and appropriate community agencies and schools. Ability to conduct presentations for a variety of audiences. Strong critical thinking and contributes solutions. High level of emotional intelligence. Ability to provide team facilitation, motivation, and mentorship. Highly skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation. Ability to research. Sociability and networking with diverse populations. Solid understanding of traumas effects on behavior & development and how to prevent re-traumatization.
General Functions and Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the unit supervisor or program manager, the position of Restorative Justice Specialist will provide case management to parent-teens in dispute within the FARS program and case management to responsible youth and victims within the VORS program. This position is expected to consist of approximately 70% VORS case management and 30% FARS case manager responsibilities. Restorative Justice Specialist duties will include but are not limited to: Lead Restorative Justice Circles and MOH program at school sites. Facilitate student
Maintain case load of higher need clients (red flags and higher advocacy needs). Call referred clients to determine eligibility for program and willingness to enroll. Prepare the parties for mediation and schedule the sessions. Maintain accurate case files; collect and report data as needed for reports and evaluation. Monitor clients' progress in program and ensuring parties complete their restitution agreements. Works closely with referral agency and internal personnel to ensure coordinated and effective services. Uses strength-based approach to provide families with information and resources, as needed. Processing referrals accurately and efficiently within established productivity guidelines and timeframes utilizing all tools and resources available. Provide positive customer service over the phone and in the office at all times. Attend trainings and meetings as required. Travel between sites within CYS service areas, including Greater Los Angeles area. Support volunteer mediators with the information they need to service the parties. This position is a Mandated Reporter of suspected cases of child abuse and neglect. Provides current information for families about community resources and other organizations and refers families as appropriate based on needs. Participate in cross training to support various roles within department as needed. Other Duties Other duties may be assigned as dictated by business needs.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times. Must be able to receive and understand written and oral communication and give written and oral instruction. Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities.
