Full-Time | Salary Exempt Accepting applications until March 23, 2026. Wellspring Lutheran Services is a statewide nonprofit dedicated to serving families and children throughout Michigan. We are currently seeking a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Specialist to join our Behavioral Health team serving Midland, Clare, Gladwin and Isabella counties. Responsibilities Provide outreach counseling services to families affected by substance use disorder or at risk of child removal due to abuse and/or neglect. Assess living conditions including housing, income/employment, substance use history, family structure, support systems, and physical, emotional, and mental health. Assist families in obtaining concrete services such as housing, food, clothing, medical care, utilities, home maintenance/repair, and transportation. Increase caregiver awareness of the impact of substance use on parenting and child safety. Provide education on substance use disorders, brain chemistry, risk factors, and effects on cognitive functioning. Use evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing, to support relapse prevention and stages of change. Encourage participation in community recovery groups. Develop prevention activities and provide referrals, resources, and education for family members. Establish community contacts and teach families how to advocate for themselves. Maintain required frequency of face-to-face contact based on contract and family needs. Prepare timely treatment plans, service plans, court reports, and closure summaries. Ensure child safety and make appropriate abuse and neglect reports. Maintain accurate case files and documentation to support billing. Ensure clients have emergency contact access to program staff. Transport clients in your own vehicle as needed. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in social work or a human services field, required (Master's preferred). Experience working with individuals and families affected by substance use. Must begin MCBAP certification process (CADC or CAADC) within three months of hire - if you have one, you must be willing to maintain the certification. Valid driver's license, vehicle registration, and auto insurance - required. Reliable, responsible, and compassionate.Schedule and Compensation Schedule:
Full-time.Shift:
Day/afternoon hours with flexibility for evening client visits.Hybrid remote:
Home-based with in-home client visits.In-office:
Weekly in-person meetings and supervision.Pay rate:
$44,000 - $49,000 per year based on experience and certifications.Sign-on bonus:
$500 forCADC/CAADC
(not available to current employees).Travel:
