The Family Coach is a frontline service provider responsible for conducting client assessments, connecting individuals and families to appropriate resources, and offering intensive service navigation and follow-up. This role is key to implementing Trident United Way's Financial Stability strategies by supporting clients in crisis, providing direct services, increasing financial stability, and ensuring high-quality service delivery. The Family Coach serves as the main point of contact for clients requiring personalized support through our network of services and community partners. Pay $25 to $30 per hourESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Client In-Take Assessments Conduct thorough one-on-one intake assessments using CharityTracker, identifying barriers to financial stability (housing, food insecurity, transportation, employment, childcare, etc.). Develop individualized service plans in collaboration with the client, including both immediate needs and longer-term goals. Clearly explain the scope of RCC services and eligibility criteria based on the allowable expenses as outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding. Ensure appropriate consents are signed and confidentiality policies reviewed. Resource Navigation and Case Support Provide referrals to in-house programs and external community partners using established RCC network. Follow up on referrals made to assist clients with progress in service plan and address barriers. Client Follow-up and Progress Monitoring Schedule and conduct regular follow-ups (phone or virtual) to monitor client progress. Reassess service plans periodically and make necessary adjustments based on changing client needs. Provide encouragement, coaching, and support to help clients achieve financial stability milestones. Data Management and Documentation Accurately document all client interactions, service plans, and outcomes in CharityTracker and other designated systems. Track key indicators related to financial stability, including income changes, benefits secured, and crisis resolution. Maintain client confidentiality and records in compliance with data privacy and agency standards. Community and Partner Engagement Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local resources and eligibility requirements. Build and maintain positive working relationships with partner agencies and service providers. Participate in RCC and community-wide resource meetings, working groups, and training. Help plan and participate in RCC-hosted outreach events, community resource fairs, and partner site orientations. Client Advocacy and Crisis Intervention Provide light-touch case management for clients in complex or crisis situations, ensuring warm handoffs to appropriate mental health, housing, or legal support agencies. Apply best practices such as trauma-informed approaches and motivational interviewing techniques to build trust, promote client autonomy, and support meaningful engagement. Act as a liaison and advocate for clients when navigating complex systems (e.g., DSS, housing authorities, unemployment).QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience Associates or bachelor's degree in Social work, Human Services, or related field or equivalent job-related experience. Minimum 2 years of direct service experience with vulnerable or underserved population. Experience in case management, benefits navigation, or resource coordination strongly preferred. SKILLS Client-centered and strengths-based approach. Knowledge of public benefits systems and community resource networks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn platforms such as CharityTracker and Thrive Hub. Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills. Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to follow-through. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under pressure.PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF JOB
This job requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, within the office setting and relating to the position. Must frequently use typical office equipment (telephone, copier, printer, fax, etc.). Will be stationary at the desk most of the time.
