This is a DCS Case Manager 2 position for the Independent Living Team in the Statewide Specialized Support Services division. This position is currently located in Knox County. This position requires a criminal background check. Therefore, you may be required to provide information about your criminal history in order to be considered for this position.Qualifications Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree and experience equivalent to one year of full-time professional work providing child welfare services including, but not limited to, one or a combination of the following: social, psychological, or correctional counseling or case management; volunteer services coordination for a children's service program; and/or juvenile classification coordination.Necessary Special Qualifications:
Applicants for this class must: Must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age on the date of application; Be a citizen of the United States; Possess a valid driver's license prior to and during employment; Have a good moral character, as determined by investigation; Complete a criminal history disclosure form in a manner approved by the appointing authority; Have no conviction for a felony; Agree to release all records involving their criminal history to the appointment authority; Supply a fingerprint sample in a manner prescribed by the TBI for a fingerprint based criminal history records check; Submit to and pass a pre-employment screening test for use of illegal drugs. Overview This position serves populations eligible for the Foster Youth to Independence housing vouchers at the Lumen Flats Apartments in Knoxville, TN. The age of eligibility is young adults 18-25. This position requires direct contact and work with young adults with foster care experience. Responsibilities Among the responsibilities required of this position are: Provide case management support to young adults receiving a Foster Youth to Independence housing voucher who are residing at the Lumen Flats apartments in Knoxville, TN which includes transportation, transition planning, education and employment attainment. Assist young adults with the application process to obtain a Foster Youth to Independence housing voucher through the Knoxville Public Housing Authority. Event and activity planning for residents at Lumen Flats which includes volunteer coordination. Regular engagement with key stakeholders of Lumen Flats. Provide Supportive Services as outlined by HUD requirements: oLife Skills:
Budgeting, balancing a checkbook, and banking Household management and meal preparation Understanding and meeting lease requirements o Financial assistance and planning: Help with security deposits, utility hook-up fees, and other move-in costs Guidance on managing money and using credit o Employment and education: Resume development and interview preparation Job placement and attainment counseling Assistance with educational goals like GED, trade school, or college applications, including help with financial aid and scholarships o Health and wellness: Access to healthcare and health insurance Mental health services oHousing Stability:
