Job Description

Every TAP employee shares in TAP's responsibility to "Mobilize Community Resources" in support of TAP's anti-poverty efforts.
DEFINITION AND PURPOSE
Provide professional service to participants as "first face" of the program. Provide case management services, classes, and groups to WINGS participants in coordination with the WINGS Mental Health Navigator.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP
Supervised by:
Assistant Director, This Valley Works Supervises:
Interns and Volunteers Coordinates with: WINGS Mental Health Navigator, Va Cares Case Manager, and Other TAP staff.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs initial intake and enrollment of program participants.
  • Creates and maintains complete, up-to-date participant files.
  • Provides information and referral services to participants and prospective participants.
  • Assists other staff with groups and classes. Provides specific WINGS groups and classes in coordination with the WINGS Mental Health Navigator.
  • Provides other case management services to WINGS participants.
  • Enters data into and maintains Virginia CARES database and any other data collection system required.
  • Compiles program reports for review by other staff in time to meet established deadlines.
  • Provides general office coverage including, but not limited to, answering telephones, greeting visitors and prospective program participants.
  • Attends all trainings and meetings required by Virginia CARES program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and required
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Computer literate in Windows based programs and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Working knowledge of data entry and reporting systems.
  • Knowledge of professional phone courtesy.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with various racial and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently.
TRAINING, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
§ Degree in psychology, social work, mental health, human services preferred § Experience in case management, counseling, and working with persons challenged by a history of incarceration, substance use, addiction or mental illness § Good oral and written communications § Training and experience in leading groups is preferred. § Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft office and other software required § At TAP, we focus on the Whole Family Approach. Whole Family is a family led strategy to achieve set goals. As an employee you may be required to attend Whole Family training and subject to data entry into the agency's software as part of the Whole Family approach and serving clients
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
§ Must have a valid Virginia Operator's license with a good driving record and reliable transportation. § TAP participates in the Virginia DMV Driver Alert Program. Employees who operate a TAP vehicle or their personal vehicle to conduct TAP business may be subject to driver record monitoring through the Virginia DMV Driver Alert Program. § Must pass drug screening. Some positions require positive complete background screening including: health, criminal, sex offender and child protective services. § This position requires the individual to be in the field and must have contact with the office staff and supervisor therefore an agency issued cell phone is necessary. §
