Capstone Community Action is seeking a Full-Time Limited-Service Benefits Assister to support community members access essential benefits and services that promote financial stability, health, and well-being. Position:
The Medicaid and SNAP Benefits Assister provides outreach, education, screening, application assistance, and ongoing support to individuals and families seeking access to public assistance programs, including Medicaid and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). This role serves as a trusted resource, helping community members understand program eligibility requirements, complete applications, gather required documentation, and navigate renewal processes. The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, attention detail, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work with diverse populations while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
Qualificiations:
Benefit Assister Certification through Department of Vermont Health Access required. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Training. B.A. in community organization, social work, or related human service field, or a comparable combination or relevant work experience. 2 years' experience in human services/human development with demonstrated competence and sensitivity in working with low-income individuals and families. Demonstrated knowledge of Vermont public assistance program and community resources. Including, Medicaid, 3SquaresVT, Farm to Family, and Vermont Health Access, and confidentiality rules regarding participant data and protected health information. Valid driver's license, proof of insurance, ability to pass a driving record check, and reliable personal means of transportation is required. Frequent travel throughout our service area is required.
Compensation & Benefits Competitive Pay :
$21.76- $25.47/hour 40-hour Week -> Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
