Relief Advocate Schedule:
As needed - Graveyard Shift Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Relief Advocate to join our team, providing crucial support and advocacy for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and crime. This role involves covering shifts during both weekdays, nights and weekends as needed, ensuring continuous and reliable assistance for individuals in crisis. Position Description Manage the front desk and perform various administrative, clerical, and client-focused tasks. Provides client support and crisis intervention to victims of crime and abuse. Network and collaborate with other advocates to best serve clients with comprehensive care. Administrative Duties Answer phones, take messages, and route calls. Accurately maintain case logs and document case activities, files, forms, and surveys. Performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities. Perform routine administrative duties, including preparing mailings and correspondence; file all appropriate forms and reports. Maintain office security by following safety procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook). Update calendars and schedule meetings. Receive, receipt, sort, and inventory donations. Participate in staff meetings, case conferences, and other meetings as needed. Performing and documenting routine inspection and maintenance activities. Clean, stock, and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, etc.) Advocacy Duties Conduct potential shelter client assessments and intakes. Orient clients to shelter and house rules. Assure that appropriate house rules are practiced. Oversee house security, complies with all rules and regulations of agency policies and safety procedures. Document shelter happenings and client activities as necessary. Provide crisis intervention and advocacy as defined by the State of Washington Services Standard to victims/survivors of domestic violence. Educate clients about the dynamics of domestic violence and options/resources available. Work with clients to develop and maintain appropriate and meaningful case plans. Provide concrete case management and access to in-house and external resources. Meet regularly with clients to support case plan accomplishment. Refer clients to other agencies and resources and advocate directly with other agencies as needed to help clients access necessary services. Maintain service partnerships with referral agencies. Provide appropriate follow-up and documentation of emergency incidents or non-compliance with rules. Facilitate support groups, and conduct community outreach and education. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager. Policy, Procedure, Regulation Ensure accuracy and quality of client files are maintained per policy. Ensure that compliance with all applicable state, federal, and local laws and regulations are followed. Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information gained while performing duties of this position. Required Skills and Knowledge Maintain strict confidentiality of all clients, employees, volunteers, and community partners' information. Serve as a strong proponent of ensuring the agency's commitment to diversity and cultural competence plan. Ability to work with interruptions. Demonstrated ability to prioritize workloads and work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively with clients, community partners, staff, and volunteers. Strong, active listening skills. Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and grammatically, verbally and in writing. Ability to address sensitive issues in a non-judgmental manner. Knowledge of interview and counseling techniques and community resources. Knowledge of computer applications and the use of standard office equipment. Organizing work, coordinating projects, setting priorities, meeting deadlines. Using initiative and independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines. Complete 30 hours of CORE training (provided by ESS). Required Training and Experience High school diploma and a year of relevant experience. Vehicle, valid driver's license, and proof of insurance. Proficient computer and technical skills Able to pass an FBI, Washington State Patrol, and Registered Sex Offender background check. Desired Training and Experience Associates degree in social work or a related field. Experience with case management or crisis intervention.
