Job Description

This role is responsible for providing services to victims of crime, sexual assault and domestic violence including, but not limited to, outreach as required, coordination of emergency shelter, food, clothing, accompaniment to law enforcement or medical services as necessary, and transportation. Schedule 4 day work week, from 8:00 am -5:30 pm
Advocate Direct Responsibilities:
Coordination of translation and interpretation services to any survivors of crime, sexual assault, and domestic violence, where English is not a survivor's primary language, as necessary. Assist survivors to navigate the legal system including, but not limited to, assisting the survivor to complete and file protection and/anti-harassment orders, coordinating, translation or interpretation assistance as required, assisting survivors in gathering information needed for court, coordination of other services providers, agencies, or programs; accompany survivors to court, and explaining the process. Responsible for regular ongoing peer counseling and case management services including assessment, case planning and implementation, regular case management and peer counseling sessions, information and referral services, support advocacy, crisis intervention and termination planning and implementation. Maintenance of complete and accurate documentation including, but not limited to, intake files, survivor file and documentation of services received, and daily, monthly, and quarterly statistics and reports. Involvement in advocacy on behalf of survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and other crimes. Demonstrates understanding and application of issues relating to crime victims, crisis intervention, case management, and the helping professions. Answer telephones and assist clients as agency demands and staffing requires. Provides a client centered system of coordinated services in the development of working relationships among programs, and diverse service agencies/providers including networking and coordination with law enforcement and civil/legal system representatives and attending meetings of relevant committees or coalitions as schedule permits. Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain professional, positive, and effective working relationships with staff, interns, volunteers, and colleagues. Demonstrates ability to function effectively in an environment that requires flexibility and tolerance of high levels of stress. Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Responsible for correspondence as required. Other duties as assigned.
Education and or Experience:
A relevant degree and/or four years work experience in the above-related fields with a minimum of two years experience in sexual assault, domestic violence, or criminal justice services.
