POSITION SUMMARY
Provide support and assistance to Community Support Program (CSP) consumers. Provide expertise about recovery process and provide program staff the participant perspective on services and on recovery.
RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Recovery Support a. Provide peer counseling, mentoring and support to program participants b. Facilitate participants in development of self-advocacy skills c. Provide expertise and consultation from a mental health consumer's perspective to program staff d. Work alongside program participants to help identify, understand and combat stigma and discrimination against people with mental illness e. Collaborate with team to ensure client rights f. Increase participant awareness of and involvement in consumer self-help programs and consumer advocacy organizations, including Bridges Community Center g. Work with the referring case manager/service facilitator to coordinate specific services designed to assist participants with goal achievement h. Assist in the provision of program services as established by the treatment/recovery plan i. Provide help and supports to assist participants in obtaining the necessities of daily living to maximize the participant's quality of life as established on the treatment/recovery plan j. Provide medication compliance monitoring, symptom management/supportive psychotherapy and individual skills developments and enhancement services with participants as established in treatment/recovery plan
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of a High School Diploma required. Certification as Peer Support Specialist preferred. 1. Lived experience with a mental health diagnosis or addiction 2. Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbally, in the English language 3. Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license with good driving record 4. Must carry own auto insurance with at least 100,000/300,000/100,000 coverage 5. Ability to maintain records and document case notes daily 6. Ability to give and accept feedback as a part of a team 7. Ability to traverse within the workspace and community frequently 8. Be willing to learn and work with the treatment philosophies 9.
