DEFINITION
Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Outreach Coordinator is responsible for increasing awareness of Early Start and early intervention services throughout San Diego County. This position develops and maintains relationships with community partners, healthcare providers, and family-serving organizations to identify and recruit families with children ages birth to three years who may benefit from early intervention services. The Community Outreach Specialist serves as an ambassador for the organization, promoting a family-centered philosophy while ensuring families have access to information, resources, and support regarding developmental services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develops and maintains relationships with referral sources including pediatric offices, hospitals, childcare centers, community organizations, WIC offices, schools, family resource centers, and other agencies serving young children and families. Demonstrates strong communication, networking, and relationshipbuilding skills while cultivating and maintaining partnerships with referral sources and community stakeholders. Distributes educational and marketing materials to referral sources and community partners. Conducts developmental screenings and assessments and prepares comprehensive assessment reports. Identifies opportunities to expand referral networks and strengthen community partnerships. Tracks outreach activities, referral sources, and community engagement efforts in accordance with organizational procedures. Responsible for the planning, coordination, and implementation of community outreach initiatives and campaigns. Conducts ongoing case management followup with prospective families, referral partners, and community stakeholders to assess needs, facilitate service connections, monitor engagement, and support successful outcomes throughout the intake and enrollment process. Collaborates with intake, clinical, and administrative staff to support timely access to services for referred families. Supports efforts to increase access to services among culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Demonstrates a familycentered philosophy and respect for cultural diversity in all interactions. Maintains knowledge of Early Start eligibility criteria, developmental services, and community resources. Communicates effectively and maintains a professional demeanor when interacting with families, referral sources, community partners, and staff. Applies a high level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information. Other duties as assigned by manager.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Develop objectives following Stars Therapy Program procedures Strong active listening skills & emotional intelligence Build strong relationships with Stars staff, community service agencies and families Demonstrate high attention to detail Effective time management skills Work flexible hours to meet program requirements Commute to various areas in the San Diego county Ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment Ability to problem solve and address concerns Handle and gather confidential information Maintains compliance with HIPAA and PHI laws Demonstrate high attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of child development and community resources serving children ages birth to three years preferred. Experience in community outreach, family engagement, early intervention, client advocacy, resources, and support systems, education, or related human services fields preferred. Familiarity with social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc. Basic graphic design and content creation experience preferred (Canva experience preferred) Bilingual in English/Spanish (Preferred)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to use a computer and iPad for extended periods of time. Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 30 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology or related field Three (3) years of experience in field related to area of specialty Available to work on Saturdays based on operational needs Proficiency in Google Suite, Excel, MS Word, Adobe, and Canva Reliable Transportation Must be able to successfully complete a background check Must be able to submit verification of authorization to work in the U.S.A. upon hire If you are passionate about making a difference and thrive in a customerfocused role, we encourage you to apply today!
