POSITION SUMMARY
The Visitor & Volunteer Engagement Coordinator serves as a primary point of contact for Monterey Museum of Art (MMA) visitors, members, volunteers, and community groups. This position oversees the front desk operations, admissions, memberships, volunteer coordination, and group visit logistics while helping create a welcoming, engaging, and safe museum experience. The coordinator plays an important role in connecting visitors to the MMA's exhibitions, programs, membership opportunities, and volunteer initiatives while supporting visitor safety and operational excellence.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years of customer or visitor services, hospitality, nonprofit, museum, or related experience preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with volunteers, community groups, or membership programs preferred.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and welcoming in a fast-paced public environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable learning and utilizing CRM, ticketing, and scheduling systems.
- Experience with Altru or similar database systems preferred.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and respond appropriately to visitor or safety concerns.
