Job Description

Kids In Crisis is Connecticut's ONLY free, round-the-clock agency providing emergency shelter, crisis counseling and community educational programs for children of all ages and families dealing with a wide range of crises, including domestic violence, mental health and family conflicts, substance abuse, economic difficulties and more
REPORTS TO
: Director of Outreach and Community Initiatives
RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Service:
Answer crisis helpline calls, provide immediate assessment of need and implement a plan of action Provide crisis intervention, conduct outreach, family meetings, intake assessment, and documentation for residential programs Collect and document pertinent data and statistics related to outreach services Provide case management to at-risk youth identified through community-based programs such as the JRB and IAT Provide on-call outreach coverage
Community Work:
Provide regular outreach education to area schools, police departments, and other social service agencies and community organizations Share information about Kids in Crisis services at health fairs, events, and community informational presentations Network with community agencies and attend community meetings
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related human services field Minimum of two (2) years counseling or crisis intervention related experience, with youth and families. Bilingual English>Spanish Strongly Preferred
