Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Community Liaison, where you will serve as the vital bridge between our organization and the communities we serve. This role offers an exciting opportunity to foster meaningful relationships, promote community engagement, and enhance our organization's visibility through strategic communication and outreach efforts. The candidate serves as the liaison for promoting the completion of the Florida Prenatal and Infant Screens, facilitates community events, and supports the Coalition's community relations and social media positioning in the community.
Duties:
  • Promotes Florida's universal prenatal and infant screening and BHSC programs and services among OB/GYN offices, pediatric offices, and birthing hospitals and raises awareness of and promotes maternal and child health initiatives to enhance community support and collaboration, highlighting the Coordinated Intake and Referral program as the entry point for services.
  • Facilitates training and/or community presentations to various audiences regarding Florida's prenatal and infants screening and the system of care in Broward County, promotes accuracy and timeliness or screen completion and submission of screens by OB healthcare provider offices, and regularly communicates with the screening office staff at the local health department on screening details
  • Monitors screening rates and numbers by prenatal provider and birthing hospital each month, analyzes screening data to determine screening trends and address issues that arise with OB healthcare provider offices and hospitals showing any negative change in screening performance.
  • Maintains accurate and updated records of providers in the county and keeps records of all key gatekeepers in the community including OB/GYN offices and providers, birthing hospitals, Medicaid health plans, and other community partners.
  • Works with local birthing hospitals to promote the Florida infant screening process and assures proper completion of the electronic screen for submission with the infant's Electronic Birth Record (EBR).
  • Develops presentations and other materials as needed to promote the Healthy Start system of care and facilitate screening and other topics as needed.
  • Develops reports including but not limited to outreach and screen promotion activities, screening rates, and provide details on meetings and activities that support the Coalition's community development and provider awareness strategic plans.
  • Creates engaging flyers and videos and other content related to maternal and child health topics to raise awareness and support program objectives and designs and produces content for social media platforms to promote maternal and child health, provide program updates, and facilitate community engagement.
  • Monitors and manages all BHSC social media platforms and interactions to engage with the community and share relevant program information.
  • Leads the successful planning of and facilitates baby showers and other community events hosted by BHSC that impact the achievement of agency objectives.
  • Attends and professionally represents BHSC at local and statewide community events, meetings, and committees.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, while an associate degree with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in public/community health or similar field is acceptable.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in public/community health, and/or marketing, sales, or public relations, including public speaking responsibilities.
  • Preferred two (2) years of experience in community organizing local networking and knowledge of local maternal and child health service delivery systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent problem-solving, presentation, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A working knowledge of maternal child issues, including data collection and analysis.
  • Computer skills with ability to efficiently use Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint and platforms related to marketing, design, and social media.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate with a diverse community and population.
  • Ability to be flexible and meet performance expectations within a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and time effectively to meet established timelines for successful work completion.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Maintain a current, valid Florida driver's license, have an acceptable driving record, and carry minimum auto insurance as required by state law.
  • Provide your own countywide transportation for business needs with BHSC mileage reimbursement provided.
  • Ability to be flexible with regards to work location and work schedule, working evenings or weekends a minimum of once monthly outside of normal Monday through Friday business hours, based on business needs.
  • Must reside in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach County.
