The Volunteer & Events Coordinator is responsible for planning and executing The Scholarship Academy's financial aid and scholarship events, recruiting and managing volunteers from corporate and community partners, and deepening TSA's relationships with our new and current partners across Metro-Atlanta. This role is ideal for a connector and organizer who thrives in community-facing environments and can manage both the logistics of a well-run event and the relationships that make it sustainable. Compensation This position is a 10-month commitment (September 2026
  • July 2027) federally-funded service opportunity.
Members serve their communities by addressing critical challenges and supporting community-focused initiatives. This is a part-time opportunity and you will receive a living allowance of $1,900 per month.

  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation and ability to navigate in and around greater Atlanta Specific Responsibilities Event Planning & Coordination
  • ≈ 30 % Scope event requirements, draft run-of-show, coordinate material orders and printing, and plan event space layout. Align internal subject-matter experts and support staff for event day coverage. Schedule and facilitate pre-event prep sessions with staff and volunteers. Track event budgets and reconcile expenses post-event. Volunteer Management
  • ≈ 30 % Develop and manage a pipeline of volunteers sourced primarily from corporate and community partners.
Build and maintain volunteer recruitment materials including outreach templates, role descriptions, and onboarding guides. Coordinate volunteers for each event — managing sign-up flows, shift schedules, and day-of check-in processes. Brief volunteers ahead of each event on their roles, expectations, and TSA's mission. Recognize and retain volunteers through post-event thank-you outreach and relationship touchpoints. Maintain accurate volunteer records and track participation across the service term. Updating and tracking records in Microsoft Planner and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Community and Partner Engagement % Serve as a relationship point of contact for TSA's existing community, corporate, and organizational partners. Maintain consistent partner touchpoints — attending partner events, coordinating site visits to TSA programming, and facilitating recognition outreach. Research and qualify new community organizations, corporate groups, and civic partners to expand TSA's volunteer and event network. Conduct outreach via email, phone, and in-person visits to book FAFSA workshops, scholarship boot camps, and related programming. Maintain a light partnership pipeline and contribute to quarterly outreach goals. Social Media & Promotion
  • ≈ 10 % Draft short form copy, graphics, and reels that drive registrations and excitement. Live and post event highlights; tag partners and sponsors. Track reach and engagement to inform content tweaks. Post-Event Reporting
  • ≈ 10 % Compile attendance data, volunteer participation logs, and satisfaction survey results after each event.
Deliver event recap summaries to partners within one week of each event. Surface insights and follow-on programming opportunities based on event outcomes. Prepare, launch, and track post-event content for new and existing social media and email platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, LinkedIn, Constant Contact, etc. (Percentages reflect time allocation over a typical month and flex with the event calendar.) You'll Be Great If You… Have 2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination, community outreach, event management, or nonprofit program work — ideally in a youth-serving or education-focused environment. Are a natural relationship-builder who enjoys engaging partners, recruiting volunteers, and turning new connections into long-term collaborators. Can manage multiple event timelines simultaneously without dropping details — you rely on checklists and project management tools to stay organized. Are comfortable leading volunteers and small teams on-site, including occasional evenings and weekends. Communicate clearly and professionally in writing and in person across diverse audiences. Familiarity with FAFSA, scholarship processes, and The Scholarship Academy's programming.
