Job Description:
The Bilingual Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for overseeing community outreach events, managing and running the city identification programs in South Bend and Elkhart, and coordinating event volunteers for La Casa. The coordinator supports La Casa staff to plan, manage and run events for the organization, and works with community partners to enhance outreach efforts. The person in this position reports directly to the Director of Community Engagement.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and maintain La Casa's event calendar, community space reservations, and related partner agreements. Manage event communications and oversee logistics, including setup, cleanup, equipment, vendors, volunteers, signage, and facility operations. Conduct facility tours as needed and represent La Casa's programs and services through community outreach and engagement activities. Coordinate the city identification program, including client scheduling, intake processes, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and service-day operations in South Bend and Elkhart. Maintain volunteer records and databases, including skills, availability, participation, and service hours. Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs, recruit and assign volunteers, and support volunteer engagement and retention. Serve as a liaison between volunteers, staff, partners, and community members, communicating La Casa's mission, programs, and opportunities. Monitor volunteer performance and provide support, guidance, and reporting to ensure program effectiveness and compliance requirements are met.
Education and Experience:
Native-level fluency and full bilingual proficiency in both Spanish and English, including speaking, reading, and writing. Knowledge and understanding of the Latino community, culture, and the greater Michiana region preferred. High school diploma or equivalent required; some higher education preferred. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in an office or administrative environment preferred. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Canva and database management systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally. Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities. Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently. Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively. Adaptable, quick to learn, and able to perform well in fast-paced or high-pressure situations. Dependable team player with a strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and punctuality. Present themselves professionally in attitude and dress. Essential Duties & Responsibilities % of Time Community Outreach Event Operations
