This vital role involves developing and implementing overdose prevention strategies, providing education, and collaborating with community partners to save lives. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in public health, addiction counseling, or related fields, with a commitment to empowering individuals and communities affected by substance use challenges. Responsibilities Develop and execute overdose prevention programs tailored to community needs, including training sessions on naloxone administration and harm reduction techniques Conduct outreach activities to engage at-risk populations, including individuals with disabilities or those experiencing homelessness Provide education on addiction, recovery options, medical terminology related to substance use, and the importance of medication management such as Medicare benefits Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to support behavioral change and encourage safer practices among participants Collect and analyze data related to overdose incidents, program effectiveness, and community needs to inform continuous improvement Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, law enforcement, and community organizations to coordinate resources and expand outreach efforts Serve as a public speaker at community events to raise awareness about overdose prevention strategies and available resources Requirements Proven experience in nursing, social work, public health, or addiction counseling with a focus on overdose prevention or related fields Strong understanding of medical terminology, Medicare programs, and nutrition as they relate to health promotion Experience working with individuals with disabilities or vulnerable populations in outreach or educational settings Excellent communication skills for public speaking, teaching, and motivational interviewing Ability to collect accurate data and maintain detailed records for program evaluation purposes Knowledge of substance use disorders, harm reduction principles, and addiction treatment options Valid certification in overdose response training (e.g., naloxone administration) preferred; willingness to obtain relevant certifications if not already held This role is an exciting opportunity for motivated professionals eager to make a difference by preventing overdoses and supporting healthier communities.
