Job Description

Somos Un Pueblo Unido (Somos) is a statewide membership-based immigrant rights and economic justice organization that organizes immigrant families and low-wage workers to build long-term power, protect rights, improve economic conditions, and strengthen local communities. Somos uses grassroots organizing, leadership development, community education, legislative advocacy, research, and civic engagement strategies to advance social and economic justice across New Mexico. The Santa Fe-based Community Organizer will recruit members, train leaders, and work with community members to support Somos' local and statewide economic justice and immigrant rights campaigns.
Responsibilities include:
Recruit immigrant families and low-wage workers into Somos membership Support grassroots organizing campaigns and community outreach Develop and train community leaders Organize workshops, strategy meetings, house meetings, and community forums Support mobilization efforts, events, and direct actions Build relationships with coalition partners and allies Present Know Your Rights workshops Attend coalition meetings and organizer trainings Support program evaluation and grant reporting Travel occasionally within and outside
New Mexico Qualifications:
Commitment to social, economic, and racial justice Bilingual in English and Spanish Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends Reliable transportation for local and regional travel Experience with community organizing, outreach, or leadership development preferred Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Canva, and databases Starting salary is $45,000 annually depending on experience and qualifications.
