Overview ( IMMEDIATE HIRES) We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Outreach Specialist to join our organization's community engagement team. Lead Community:
Long Island City Non Profit public housing neighborhoods. We provide youth and adult residents with comprehensive integrated services in five key areas: employment services, financial counseling, income supports, community revitalization initiatives, and financial inclusion services anchored by the Reporting to the Community Engagement Manager, the Outreach Specialist is a key member of the , building and maintaining relationships with LIC residents leading to an increase in program membership, engagement, job retention, and career advancement.
Responsibilities:
Assisting the Community Engagement Manager in designing and implementing an aggressive grassroots marketing and outreach strategy that engages residents through door-to-door canvassing, tabling, community events, social media, and other opportunities; Residents of public housing who assist in executing the program's overall outreach strategy; Representing the program at Residents' Association meetings, community events, and community partner meetings; Collecting, analyzing, and using data to inform outreach strategy and demonstrate results; Conducting ongoing research (survey collection, focus groups) to ensure that Jobs-Plus addresses community needs and residents' expectations; Assisting in the planning and execution of monthly employment related special events such as job fairs, community events, evening workshops, and collaborated events with partner CBOs; and Performing additional duties as assigned by the Community Engagement Manager . This position is for a highly energetic, outgoing "people" person who can engage people of different backgrounds and readiness levels.
Qualifications:
Community organizing and outreach experience strongly Experience working with residents in public housing a plus. Familiarity with the Public Presentations. Entrepreneurial, self-starter, and Goal/Result Driven Demonstrated positive, collaborative approach to work, including a commitment to high-impact customer service and problem Proficient in Google Apps and social media tools (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram). Experience in learning and mastering new software Excellent oral and written communication Ability to multi-task, work well as part of a team, and maintain positive relationships with staff, and other key CBOs Sense of humor and passion for social justice a Bilingual Spanish and English strongly Must be able to work some mornings and or afternoons and Salary is based on experience.

Knowledge of addiction counseling, public health principles, or youth program teaching is highly desirable. Ability to collect data accurately and utilize technical tools for reporting purposes. Bilingual proficiency in relevant languages is preferred to serve diverse communities effectively. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from underserved communities with sensitivity and cultural competence. Leadership qualities with experience supervising staff or volunteers in dynamic environments. Strong organizational skills combined with excellent written communication abilities. Administrative experience including recruiting, event planning, or program coordination is advantageous.
