Job Description
About Strive Charter School Strive Charter School is a new public elementary charter school opening in the South Bronx. We're building a mission-driven team from the ground up, and we're excited about the community we're creating. Our school is located just 2 blocks from a #6 train stop, making it easy to reach. About This Role We're looking for an enthusiastic, motivated community outreach worker to help us spread the word and recruit student applicants from families in the South Bronx. This is a paid, full-time summer position — ideal for college students looking to gain real-world experience in community engagement, education, and outreach while making a meaningful impact. You'll be going out into the community to talk with parents and caregivers about Strive Charter School — visiting neighborhoods, transit areas, playgrounds, community organizations, and local events. You'll hand out materials, answer questions, and encourage interested families to apply. You'll also keep simple notes on where you went and what seemed to work best. We're looking for someone who takes initiative and brings energy and drive to the work. If you've ever done canvassing, volunteering, sales, customer service, campus organizing, or any role where you were connecting with people and motivating them to take action, this role will feel very familiar. Spanish fluency is a strong plus — many of the families we're trying to reach are Spanish-speaking. We will consider candidates who don't speak Spanish, but bilingual candidates will be given priority. Pay is $25 per hour. This is a full-time position running through the summer. What You'll Be Doing Going out into the South Bronx community — visiting playgrounds, transit areas, housing developments, community organizations, local businesses, and events — to talk directly with parents and caregivers about Strive Charter School. You'll hand out materials, answer questions, and encourage interested families to apply. You'll keep basic notes on your outreach so we can focus efforts on the most effective locations. This is a hands-on, people-facing role. We'll give you the tools, training, and support you need to succeed — and we want someone who will bring enthusiasm and initiative to the work every day.
