Job Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION
: Community Engagement Coordinator LALA is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees, volunteers, and community members.
PAY TYPE
: Hourly, non-exempt; flexible schedule 8-10 hours per week; evening and weekend availability occasionally required to support community events and meetings. 6-12 Month Position. With opportunity to transition into a full-time role based on organizational needs and performance.
Hourly Rate:
$30.00/hour.

POSITION SUMMARY
: The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in connecting Latino families and community members with resources, programs, and events throughout Whatcom County. This position supports community outreach efforts, volunteer engagement, event coordination, and organizational development initiatives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Events and training coordination: Lead and/or support planning and logistics for key community events, connect and support community work.
  • Support planning and logistics for the Association's Executive Director and Steering Committee activities.
  • Build relationships with community members, partners and organizations.
  • Communications coordination: Develop and implement public communication tools to the broader public. Including social media, email, website.
  • Volunteer coordination. Recruit, train, schedule and support volunteers participating in organization events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
  • At least two-years higher education coursework in Human Services, Marketing, Nonprofit Organization or related field; bachelor's degree ( preferred ).
  • Experience organizing/leading community events, workshops and/or public outreach ( preferred ).
  • Previous experience with volunteer service, national service programs, working with diverse communities and coalition organizations, public policy advocacy and fund development ( preferred ). 2.
Required:
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with people from varied cultural, socioeconomic, educational and experiential backgrounds.
Preferred:
  • Ability to learn and work with web-based tools, such as Canva, Donor Perfect, Mailchimp.
  • Proficient with creative tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Ability to learn and work with website editors like WordPress, Google Sites, and Galaxy Digital.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
:
  • Based in Whatcom County. Work is generally performed remotely, in-person meeting and event attendance required (Regularly in Bellingham area, sometimes in other cities across the county). Must have reliable transportation.
  • Potential full-time position available in 6-12 months.
  • Candidates should have access to a computer and reliable internet service to effectively perform assigned duties.
  • Ability to attend community events throughout Whatcom County, stand and walk for extended periods of time at events, lift and carry materials and supplies up to 25 lbs.
, set up and take down event tables, displays, and other materials as well as perform other standard office tasks.
