Monday - Friday Hybrid schedule may be available based on operational needs and prior approval. Position Overview We are seeking an Outreach Contractor to provide field-based peer outreach and engagement services for service members, veterans, and their families, with a strong focus on justice-involved veterans . This role supports veterans by helping them connect with resources related to suicide prevention, justice intervention, housing navigation, recovery support, and community services . The position is non-clinical and focuses on outreach, coordination, peer support, and resource navigation. Work is primarily conducted in community-based environments , and all activities must comply with HIPAA, confidentiality standards, and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) protections . Key Responsibilities Conduct structured intake assessments to gather information such as service history, trauma exposure, mental health background, substance use history, and stabilization needs. Help veterans identify immediate needs, stabilization priorities, and short-term goals. Support the development of Individual Recovery Plans (IRPs) or similar goal-oriented service plans focused on stability and reintegration. Refer veterans to appropriate providers for housing, behavioral health, substance use treatment, employment services, benefits assistance, and legal support . Coordinate "warm handoffs" to community organizations and justice system partners when appropriate. Work with criminal justice stakeholders including courts, probation, parole, diversion programs, correctional facilities, and re-entry organizations . Participate in outreach events and stakeholder meetings when authorized. Maintain accurate documentation of outreach activities, referrals, and veteran interactions in designated systems. Escalate safety concerns, high-risk situations, or complex cases to the designated supervisor following established protocols. Report service gaps or systemic barriers impacting justice-involved veterans to program leadership. Required Qualifications Ability to follow established procedures and protocols. Strong time management skills to manage field outreach schedules, caseloads, and administrative tasks. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently. Professional communication skills when interacting with veterans, service providers, and the public. Sound judgment and the ability to escalate concerns when necessary. Comfort discussing suicide prevention and working with potentially suicidal veterans within a non-clinical peer support role. Knowledge of military culture and veteran-related challenges . Understanding of HIPAA regulations, confidentiality requirements, and PII protection . Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications . Ability to work in a hybrid environment including fieldwork, office work, and telework . Reliable transportation is required.
