Job Description

Position Summary The Case Manager serves as a frontline ministry and community care presence focused on homelessness response, crisis intervention, care coordination, and street outreach. This role works directly with unsheltered neighbors, vulnerable individuals, and community partners to provide compassionate support, resource navigation, and pathways toward stability and healing. The Case Manager helps coordinate outreach efforts both on and beyond the church campus, working collaboratively with staff, volunteers, healthcare systems, housing partners, recovery communities, and social service organizations. Unlike many traditional service organizations, Oak Lawn United Methodist Church approaches homelessness ministry through a model of radical hospitality, dignity, relationship-building, and justice-centered care. The church seeks not simply to provide services, but to create a welcoming community where every person is treated as beloved and worthy of compassion, safety, and belonging. Essential Responsibilities Conduct and coordinate street outreach efforts in partnership with volunteers, staff, and community organizations Build relationships with unsheltered neighbors and individuals experiencing crisis, housing instability, or vulnerability Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, and trauma-informed support Assist guests in accessing housing resources, shelters, healthcare, identification documents, food assistance, recovery support, transportation, and other community services Coordinate referrals and follow-up care with healthcare systems, nonprofit organizations, social workers, shelters, and outreach providers Maintain strong working relationships with outreach and service organizations throughout the Dallas area Support the church's hospitality ministries and community center efforts in creating safe, welcoming, and organized spaces Assist with volunteer coordination and provide guidance for outreach volunteers serving vulnerable populations Participate in meetings with church leadership, outreach teams, healthcare partners, and community coalitions Help organize outreach events, wellness initiatives, resource fairs, and seasonal response efforts Maintain appropriate documentation, case notes, confidentiality, and reporting standards Assist in identifying gaps in care and opportunities for expanded community partnerships and ministry impact Qualifications Experience in homelessness services, crisis intervention, street outreach, social services, behavioral health, recovery ministry, or related community care work Strong interpersonal and de-escalation skills Ability to engage compassionately and respectfully with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, addiction, trauma, or housing instability Experience coordinating resources, referrals, and community partnerships Strong administrative and organizational skills Ability to attend meetings, collaborate across organizations, and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and community partners Commitment to inclusivity, hospitality, and justice-centered ministry values Comfortable working within a faith-based and highly diverse community environment CPR/First Aid certification preferred Preferred Skills Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency strongly preferred Familiarity with Dallas-area homelessness systems, shelters, and housing networks Experience with trauma-informed care and harm reduction approaches Experience supervising volunteers or coordinating outreach teams Knowledge of LGBTQ+ affirming care practices, gender-affirming care, and recovery community resources Physical Requirements Ability to move throughout the church campus and outreach environments Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions during outreach efforts Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally Ability to stand, walk, and engage with community members for extended periods during events and outreach activities Compensation Hourly compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications. Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
