Job Description

Director of Connections
  • United Methodist Church 330 North Broadway Avenue, Wichita, KS 67202 $20

  • Part-time Job Overview The Director of Connections will focus on helping adults and families find a spiritual home at Wichita First United Methodist Church.
Areas of focus will include welcome and hospitality, visitor follow up, and integration of regular visitors. The Director of Connections will also coordinate participation of the church in external activities, preferably in downtown at least 3x a year. . Duties
  • Present on Sunday mornings to meet and greet visitors
  • Follow up personally with first time visitors via text, email, lunch, coffee as appropriate
  • Connect new people to existing congregation according to their interests and desire for engagement
  • Model and encourage a culture of invitation among all church members
  • Participate in new member classes
  • Support Hospitality Committee
  • Organize participation for First Church in downtown events at least 3x a year
  • Coordinate with Communications staff to highlight events and follow up on ad campaigns
  • Be present on church's social media to interact with comments and inquiries
  • Track visitor flow and retention, help church meet benchmarks for visitor traffic
  • Recruit volunteers from existing congregation to help support new ministries. Skills
  • Solid interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to connect people with one another and form community
  • Ability to manage people and resources
  • Ability to follow and administer financial and administrative policies of the church
  • Ability to motivate and engage congregation members in ministry
  • Willingness to support the United Methodist Church, its connectional system, and mission
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a staff team
  • Flexible, innovative, bold
  • College degree preferred
  • Experience in local church ministry preferred
  • Familiarity with downtown Wichita preferred
Pay:
$20.00
