Job Description St. John's in New City is a parish in the Episcopal Diocese of New York. We are a small and friendly community, proud of our ethnic diversity and ability to bridge differences through our embodiment of Christ's love. After several short clergy tenures, we hope to call a rector who will commit to a longer period to grow with us and help us to live out our newly created mission statement: "We are a loving, diverse, and welcoming community, reaching out through Christ to serve the needs of our neighbors." We seek a rector who is emotionally present and able to walk with us as we move through life's passages as well as a strong preacher who focuses on compassion, love and hope, helping us to be able to apply the Gospel to our everyday life. We hope our next rector will encourage our hospitality and outreach efforts and help us to grow by connecting to others in our community of New City in Rockland County outside New York City. We would also like our new rector to be someone who will work with us to develop our ministry to families and children. Since 2025, we have been a covenanted member of the Rockland Collaboration, a group of 6 parishes within our Deanery. The primary purpose of the Collaboration is to equip, empower, and support lay leadership in Rockland County congregations. Our rector would become a part of that collaborative effort.
