Position:

Starting at $24.00/hour, commensurate with experience and qualifications, plus employer-sponsored medical, dental, life insurance, and 401(k) benefits, subject to plan eligibility requirements.

Position Summary:

The Coordinator of Youth Ministry (CYM) provides vision, leadership, and coordination for ministry to young people in grades 6-12 within the 9:30 a.m. English-speaking community. Rooted in the Catholic faith and the mission of the Church, the CYM fosters a welcoming, relational, and faith-filled environment where young people can grow in their relationship with God, build authentic community, and live out Gospel values through service, justice, and leadership. This role is both youth- and family-facing, focusing on building strong connections between young people, their families, and the broader parish community.

Primary Responsibilities:

Program Leadership & Faith Formation

• Plan and lead distinct youth ministry programming for middle and high school youth.
• Develop a school-year-based youth ministry calendar including gatherings, service opportunities, and seasonal events.
• Collaborate with the Religious Education Coordinator to develop and lead the Social Justice Club for grades 3-5.
• Coordinate the parish Confirmation preparation program, serving as the primary point of contact for candidates, families, and catechists.
• Integrate Catholic Social Teaching, Gospel values, and the parish mission throughout all youth ministry programming, emphasizing service, justice, and accompaniment.
• Foster opportunities for listening to and learning from youth voices, drawing on the spirit of the Universal Apostolic Preferences.
• Develop youth leadership opportunities in liturgy, service, and peer leadership. Family Engagement & Community Building
• Serve as a youth- and family-facing leader connecting students and families to parish ministries and to one another.
• Facilitate parent engagement through communication, collaboration, and formation opportunities.
• Foster belonging, inclusion, and community among youth and families. Volunteer Leadership & Safe Environment
• Recruit and train volunteers in accordance with Archdiocesan Safe Environment policies.
• Provide leadership development for adult volunteers and youth leaders.
• Ensure all Safe Environment requirements are maintained and followed. Parish Collaboration & Communication
• Participate in staff meetings and parish initiatives.
• Maintain consistent communication with families through email and parish platforms.
• Serve as liaison with diocesan youth ministry offices and resources.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

The ideal candidate is faith-filled, relational, creative, and committed to youth accompaniment and Gospel-centered ministry. This person is energized by building inclusive community, forming young people in faith and justice, and empowering youth to use their gifts in service to God, the Church, and their communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Practicing Catholic with a strong understanding of Catholic faith, tradition, and social teaching.
• Experience working with youth in ministry or educational settings.
• Strong organizational and relational leadership skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, volunteers, families, and youth.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in theology, education, ministry, or a related field is preferred but not required.
• Commitment to Safe Environment training and certification requirements.

Physical Demands:
